Growing up in the Sequoia National Park in a tiny town of 250 people (where they once had a pet bear cub), Katie studied abroad in England before making the journey to Portland, OR in 2013 where she got her degree in Psychology. While in school, Katie discovered her love for being a source of support and guidance for youth going through crisis. She started her career in a dual-diagnosis mental health and addiction rehab facility for teenagers, where she was often called the “Princess” due to her penchant for singing songs to the residents as well as her calming de-escalation voice. Katie then moved on to work at Boys & Girls Aid as a case manager for teenage girls in the foster care system and spent the next 6 years moving her way up into the Development side of things as an Executive Assistant, Advancement Manager, and Donor Relations Manager.
With a heart for supporting causes that matter to her, Katie was so excited to join the team at BBBSNW as their Corporate Relations Manager to further the mission of mentorship and belonging. Katie believes in the power of storytelling and loves to show how everyday people can make a difference in their communities and beyond.
Katie lives with her 3-year-old Pandemic-panic purchase, Brew the Australian Shepherd. She is a freelance florist on the side to express her creativity and loves exploring the flower fields of the PNW, reading in coffeeshops, and spending too much time playing fetch with Brew at the dog park.
