About Us:

Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest is a private non-profit social change organization affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Funded by local investments only, BBBS helps children realize their full potential and build their futures by providing dedicated one-to-one mentors to each child who comes through our door.

Our goal is to use the power of life changing mentoring relationships to help youth improve their academic achievement, empower them to make positive life choices, graduate from high school, have higher aspirations, greater confidence, and positive & supportive relationships.

Gold Standard Award

Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest has been awarded the Gold Standard Award for the year 2018. Only 15 out of 256 sites across the country achieved this distinction in 2018. The following criteria must be met in calendar year 2018 in order for affiliates to earn these awards, which will be announced in Spring 2019 and presented at the 2019 National Conference. 

  • Serve a minimum of 100 children and raise $200,000 in revenue.
  • Achieve a Community-Based 12-month retention rate that is 5 percentage points higher than the national average for the network in 2017. 
  • Achieve a Site-Based 12-month retention rate that is 5 percentage points higher than the national average for the network in 2017. 
  • Maintain a Match Support Contact done rate of 90%.
  • Show growth in number of end active matches.
  • Post a positive net income at the end of the affiliate’s fiscal year that ends during 2019.
