Kari Scott is the onsite HR generalist for Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest, a position that brings her full circle from when she volunteered as a Big Sister in the early 2000s. She has a deep respect for the work this organization does and is privileged to be a part of it.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors in Communications (focused on psychology), Scott began her career in HR in 2002 and primarily worked for WE Communications in the Portland area. She has experience in recruiting, learning and development, and client support. She is proud to have managed programs that included forums for leadership development, mentorship, and continuing education.
A Minnesota native, Scott has lived in Oregon long enough to consider herself an Oregonian at heart. In her downtime she likes to spend time with her husband, son and puppy out in nature whether it’s at the mountain, the coast, or anywhere in between…and at any coffee or small bookshop she can find along the way.
“What I love about this work,” she says, “is how it requires being a listener first and foremost. This allows me to clearly understand and empathize what a situation requires and hopefully be able to provide a sense of calm and clarity to the situation at hand.”
