Every December, staff, supporters, and volunteers come together to make the holidays special for the families served by Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest.
On December 7th, families visited the BBBS Winter Village, where they could decorate cookies, pick out gifts for their children, and even wrap the gifts on site, so they remained a surprise to curious eyes! Those who couldn’t make it to the Winter Village arranged for gifts to be picked up or dropped off to them the following week.
Overall, 122 families with 300 kids received gifts this holiday season.
Thank you to our sponsors
Acquiring the gifts for the Winter Village was a group effort.
The season kicked off with the KGW Toy Drive, sponsored by Regence. BBBS was given $6,000 to pick out toys for our youth. After an hour of shopping and an approximately 11-foot-long receipt, we drove away with four vehicles full of gifts.
Throughout November, sponsors and individuals continued to donate gifts:
Teamwork makes the (holiday) dream work!
When it came time to sort through the hundreds of gifts and set up the Winter Village, there was no shortage of help. Volunteers from Premiere Property Group worked with BBBS staff to decorate and organize the gifts by age. On the day of the event, volunteers from Ferguson Wellman and M Financial were there to help greet and direct guests, wrap gifts, and carry gifts out to vehicles.
At the end of the day, so many families went home with smiles on their faces. Thank you for helping us make holiday dreams come true!
